Overview

This is a full-time, hybrid career opportunity on our Business Loan Center Credit team within the Fulton Bank footprint as follows: PA, NJ, MD, DE, VA, DC.

 

Manages the credit underwriting and decisioning process and underwriting team in the Business Loan Center (BLC). Responsible for the execution of Fulton's credit policy and credit underwriting oversight throughout the approval process. The position will have loan approval authority and will actively participate in the loan decision process. Responsible for maintaining an effective and efficient process, overall risk management, and adherence with bank credit standards and policy in the decisioning process.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participates in and manages the loan decision process for credit requests in the BLC. Provide oversight to BLC Underwriters in the decisioning process. Responsible for completing any necessary secondary reviews on credit decisions completed by team members.
  • Assists in the execution of the corporation and the bank’s risk appetite. Ensures that all pertinent risks have been identified and assessed, including but not limited to credit, legal, regulatory, compliance and operational, and that appropriate controls are established in order to mitigate these risks. Ensure that loan presentations adequately assess the risks inherent in the borrower and the loan request.
  • Ensures adherence to the corporation's credit policy. Partners with special assets group on problem loan identification. Practices early identification and effective mitigation strategies on problem loans. Review and respond to underwriting issues identified by internal audit, external auditors, loan review, and compliance. Recommend and implement corrective controls and monitoring to minimize credit risk and underwriting errors.
  • Provides guidance and feedback to RMs and credit analysts in the BLC underwriting and decisioning process.
  • Partner with Account Management team and the Director of the BLC to monitor and assess the loan portfolio for performance trends.
  • Recruit, develop, coach and mentor BLC Underwriters. Plan, assign and evaluate the work of staff, provide guidance and coaching, establish individual performance goals and objectives, monitor volume, workflow and quality, and provide performance feedback including annual performance appraisals. Conduct stay interviews, and support staff with development opportunities.
  • Responsible for special projects related to credit underwriting or policy setting.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of Fulton's credit appetite, underwriting standards, credit quality, policies and regulatory compliance requirements in addition to systems and procedures necessary for the BLC underwriting and decisioning process.

 

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent experience. Specialty: business, accounting, finance or other applicable. (Required)

Experience

7 or more years commercial credit underwriting. (Required)

 

7 or more years commercial lending authority. (Required)

 

5 or more years prior management experience. (Required)

 

5 or more years commercial relationship management. (Preferred)

This role may perform other job duties as assigned by the manager. We set standard salary ranges for our roles based on the position, function, and responsibilities, as benchmarked against similarly sized companies in our industry. Specific compensation offered will be determined based on a combination of factors including the candidate’s knowledge, skills, depth of work experience, and relevant licenses/credentials. The salary range may vary based on geographic location.

 

The salary range for this position is $111,100.00 - $185,100.00 annually.

This job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units. This job is eligible to participate in a short-term incentive compensation plan subject to individual and company performance.
